SPECIAL OFFER: MAVERICK 125

We’ve just announced a new recommended retail price for the Maverick 125 of £2,499+OTR (previously £2650+OTR). This special offer pricing comes into effect on 1st August as an added incentive to purchase before the number plate change!

The Maverick 125, available in seven different colours, is an off-road inspired motorcycle with an aggressive retro-styled look. Featuring spoked wheels, knobbly tyres, unique scrambler lines, side number boards, electric ignition and a custom LED tail light.

The Maverick has attracted a great deal of attention since it was first launched in February 2017. Listed in On2Wheels Best Bikes of 2018, it will also be featured in a series airing on Amazon Prime later this year where it was ridden through Wales on the Trans Euro Trail by one of the presenters of Adventure Bike TV.

“It’s a stylish commuter that comes into its own in an urban environment. It’s plenty powerful enough to get the jump on traffic at lights, and light and agile enough to make filtering an absolute doddle – but best of all, the power delivery is smooth, so even the newest of riders shouldn’t find the Maverick intimidating” On2Wheels.

The Maverick 125 is available to purchase via our network of authorised dealers and comes with 2 years RAC breakdown cover included. To find your nearest dealer search our online Dealer Locator.

HERALD SHOWCASES BRUTE 500, A BRITISH ENGINEERED MODERN TRACKER AT INTERMOT

We are showcasing two new motorbikes at INTERMOT in Cologne this month, the British designed and engineered Brute 500 and the Brat 125!

The Brute 500 is a Brute by name and Brute by nature, inspired by the racetrack but built for the road it is our own modern take on the street tracker and has been engineered and built in house from the ground up at our site in Huntingdon, UK. Featuring a single four-stroke 449cc engine, the bike also has adjustable Racetek front and rear suspension with our own unique floating-shock linkage system.

Previously, we have focused on 125 and 250 motorcycles, however earlier this year we launched the Herald Classic 400 (also available to view at INTERMOT) and another 400 model is due to be released later in the year.

Our passion for motorbikes has meant the goal was always to design and manufacture motorcycles in Britain. As a division of an award-winning engineering and manufacturing company, we can design and produce parts in-house and have the facilities to develop and manufacture our own British-built motorcycles. The Brute is the first bike to be designed and built at our headquarters and the next stage is final testing and development.

Also launching at INTERMOT is the Brat, a bike with an attitude to match its unique rugged looks. Developed with partners to our exact specifications, it will be part of our exciting 2019 range.

Visit Herald at INTERMOT on stand A-080 (Hall 6). The Brute 500 and Brat 125 will also be on display on stand 3D10 at Motorcycle Live at the NEC, Birmingham in November.

How to care for your Herald!!

Routine is key

By regularly checking your bike every week you will learn what checks you should do and it will almost become a routine part of your motorcycle life.

What should I check?

1. Oil levels

Oil levels can be checked simply using a dipstick, plug or level window.

2. Tyres

Tyres are not just important for handling but for fuel consumption and your wallet too.

Check your tyres for unusual wear and tear as this usually indicates that they’re either over or under inflated – this can affect handling as well as fuel consumption. You should also check your tyre pressure, even if there is no unusual wear and tear, and tread depth.

3. Coolant

Checking your engine’s coolant is simple but it can save you a lot of hassle.

Check to see what level your coolant is at based on the high and low marks on the outside of the tank and fill accordingly.

4. Lights

Lights are lifesavers in dark conditions so make sure they work. It’s a simple enough check to do before you get out on the road.

The same applies to your signals. If they don’t work then you’re in trouble as nobody will know your intentions on the road. Again, check them before you get on the road.

5. Suspension

Check your suspension for unusual wear and tear. Apply your front brake and push down on your handlebars.

If your suspension is working it should give a little as you push down. This should be a smooth movement and there should be no clunky sounds or feeling to it.

6. Steering

Put your bike on its centre stand and turn the handlebar from left to right, fully locking the steering in each direction.

The handlebars should turn smoothly and again there should be no strange sounds.

7. Brakes

Brake pads wear down quite quickly, depending on how aggressively you ride. If your brake pads are worn down and you ride, you can ruin your rotors.

You can inspect your brake pads visually; they should be at least 3mm in width. If they are less, you should change them because it’s expensive to correct if it goes too far and damages your discs.

8. Chain

Without your chain, you can’t ride, so it’s important you check it.

Make sure your chain can move up and down slightly when nobody is sat on your bike. If it’s too tight it’s worth adjusting your chain as they tighten up when weight is on the bike. Your bike should also be lubricated. If it looks too dry, it probably is, so you should lubricate it, making sure to apply the lube to the inside of the chain.

9. Horn

Your horn can save your life but it’s a part of your bike that you might not use for long periods of time.

You can fail an MOT if your horn doesn’t work as well so it’s in your interest to check it does. Try it out but only when moving on a non-residential road between 07:00 and 23:30. Apply common sense when doing so.

10. Wash

Wash your motorbike as soon as you spot any muck, grease or tar on it. This will save you time in the long run and could prevent serious damage to your paintwork, particularly if tar is left to set on your bike.

These checks should ensure that your bike stays in tip top condition, as well as keep you safe on the road and save you money in the long run. You shouldn’t need any more reasons.

By regularly maintaining you bike this will not only ensure the best ride but will improve the lifespan of your motorcycle.

Note: Your warranty could be void if a fault appears that is a result of poor care and maintenance.
